Mad River Railroad Stops At Plain View Ohio

Plain Folk Cafe in Plain View, OH is a great stop on the Mad River Railroad.  It’s even better with their new delicious additions to the menu.  Great fun doing songs of the season but it’s crazy trying to remember them from 11 months ago.

Byrne’s Pub hosts Mad River Railroad

Byrne’s Pub

Byrne’s Pub hosted Mad River Railroad’s newgrass and bluegrass on Friday evening.  We appreciate all our fans that came from as far away as Greenville to our Columbus show.  Byrne’s Pub is great live music venue in central Ohio.

Covered Bridge Festival welcomes Mad River Railroad

Mad River Railroad stopped at the Covered Bridge Festival at North Lewisburg, OH on Sept 25.  The bluegrass music happens on a beautiful restored covered bridge complete with chandelier.  We got to connect again with friends and fans in the Union County area and others who traveled from other areas to catch our show.

United Way Community Challenge Springfield, OH

The United Way Community Challenge at Springfield was a great success last Saturday.  The rain held off long enough for us to get most of our show in.  Thanks to all who came to support this wonderful cause and listen to newgrass music as summer is winding down.

Fort Rowdy Gathering welcomes Mad River Railroad

Mad River Railroad rolled into Covington, Ohio for the Fort Rowdy Gathering depicting a trading village in the late 1700’s and 1800’s.  Very realistic!  They love their music and invite some of the best local talent to entertain.  This is our third year there and we really have a blast.  We get to see a lot of our friends from the area and chow down on some great homemade food and treats.  They temporarily ran out of chicken and noodles bur fortunately cooked up more at the church.  Can’t miss that!

Troy Ohio wedding rides Mad River Railroad

We had more fun than should be allowed at Megan and Collin’s wedding Saturday evening in Troy, Ohio.  Everyone danced the whole evening to newgrass, bluegrass, and special requests.  A full dance floor to Orange Blossom Special!  The reception was held at the beautiful Troy Hayner Center.  We didn’t have to remember the words to songs.  The guests often took over the lyrics. We love doing weddings.

Mad River Railroad at 2016 Darke County Fair

RR 2

Mad River Railroad had a great stop at the Darke County Fair Friday evening.  It was opening day and a little rain didn’t dampen the fun.  This is one of our favorite settings at one of the biggest county fairs in America.  Lucas Vickroy sat in with us on bass and did a great job at keeping the beat.  We threw in a couple of songs we needed to do at a wedding the following night.  Home and Sweet Caroline were a blast!  The audience took over on Sweet Caroline chorus.

Mad River Railroad At Ohio State Fair

Ohio State Fair 1

Mad River Railroad performed two shows at the Ohio State Fair today.  We got to discuss bluegrass and newgrass music with  many of new friends and fans.  Some of us made sure not to miss out on hand dipped ice cream, polish sausage, and corn dogs!  There was a family from Branson Missouri that had made a traveling stage pulled by a large golf cart traveling throughout the fairgrounds playing their songs.  It was a hoot!

Bradford Ohio Bluegrass Festival

Bradford Ohio Bluegrass Festival to benefit the library was terrific as always last night. Mad River Railroad topped off the program and then Richard Propps of Nightflyer joined us on stage for a few tunes. Great time!  We enjoyed it Richard!  We want to thank Bradford Library folks for taking good care of us.  They really treat bands great!  What a wonderful appreciative audience too!
